Phnom Penh – Kampong Thom – Siem Reap

Day 1: ARRIVE PHNOM PENH (YOUR OWN ARRIVAL FLIGHT ARRANGMENT)

Upon arrival, meet and transfer to hotel for check-in or dropping off your luggage (Early check-in is NOT included & subject to hotel’s availability). Set out on a city tour to visit the Royal Place built in 1866 by King Norodom; Silver Pagoda is so named because of its floor, which is made up of 5,000 silver tiles and located within the Royal Palace compound, and visit Tuol Sleng Museum, a reminder of the Khmer Rouge regime.

Day 2: PHNOM PENH ARCHITECHTURE TOUR BY CYCLO (B/ L/ –)

This morning you will start out from your hotel by cyclo for a three hour tour through the streets of Phnom Penh to admire the mix of Khmer and French colonial architecture. A local professional escort will explain the history, structure and style of the buildings such as the Old Post Office, the Railway Station and the Central Market. Some of the buildings you are able to enter and explore the interior in more depth while others can only be observed from the outside. Cambodia’s most famous architect, H.E. Vann Molyvann had a big hand in developing many of the structures you admire today. (Only available on Saturday & Sunday, fixed time departure at 8:30am and max 12 passengers. This is not an exclusive tour and there is a chance that some other people may participate).

Transferred to Phnom Penh airport for your departure to Siem Reap. Upon arrival, meet the guide and transfer to hotel for check in.

Day 3: SIEM REAP – ANGKOR TEMPLE (B/ L/ –)

Beat the crowd early morning by 7 am; visit the picturesque Ta Prohm that had nearly disappeared into the jungle and remains overgrown, an oddly haunting and exotic scene. The magnificent roots of a tree, pushing between the huge stone blocks of the temple in a sort of embrace, evoke feelings that you may remember forever. And continue to visit the intricately carved Khmer ruins at Angkor Wat – one of the world’s most impressive ruins. The temple still owns fine Apsara carvings in Angkorian era art.

Afternoon, explore the mysterious Royal city Angkor Thom & Bayon. Its 54-tower temple is an awesome sight. At first glance it seems a shapeless mass of stone, but further scrutiny reveals a face, and then another and another one, until suddenly you are engulfed by the silent, heavy, enigmatic and silent gaze through half-closed eyes, staring out from a primitive and remote time. Further, visit the surroundings of the complex including the Baphuon, Elephant Terrace, Lepper King Terrace and Royal Place area.

DAY 4: SIEM REAP – HELICOPTER FLY TO VISIT PREAH KOH KER

Transfer to airport where we will take the helicopter to visit Koh Ker temples
The temple complex at Koh Ker, northeast of Siem Reap, represents the remnants of the capital of the Khmer Empire from 928 AD. – 944 A.D. under the then King Jayavarman IV and his son Hasavarman II. The Koh Ker site is dominated by Prasat Thom, a 30 meter tall temple mountain raising high above the plain and the surrounding forest. Great views await the visitor at the end of an adventurous climb. Across the site of Koh Ker there are many Prasat or tower sanctuaries, including several Lingas.

Free at leisure in the afternoon

DAY 5: SIEM REAP – DEPARTURE

After breakfast, transfer to airport for departure
